Get Their Tails Wagging With Professional Animal Nutrition From Alpha Animal Hospital

Nutrition is a cornerstone to overall health and vitality and should be prioritized when feeding your pets. Every animal has unique diet requirements, and meeting those requirements means paying close attention to the ingredients in the meals you feed them.

We know how challenging it can be when your furry friends are fussy eaters, but there are many ways you can help them meet their daily nutrition needs with the food they actually enjoy eating. In addition, you may want to introduce new foods into their diet to keep things interesting and enjoyable, but always be sure to check with your local veterinarian which foods are safe for them to eat.

Here at Alpha Animal Hospital, we have seen animal nutrition in every shape and form. From undernourished to overfed, we have helped hundreds of pets get in shape through professional nutrition services.

What Food Scraps Are Doing to Your Dog’s Health

We’ve all been subdued by puppy dog eyes and innocent begging from our dogs, and they seem to know exactly how to have us wrapped around their fluffy little paws. But, you could potentially be harming your dog’s health when you consistently give in to their pleas.

Just as humans have allergies and foods we cannot eat, there are many foods that dogs should avoid at all costs. Besides potentially being dangerous or toxic, many human foods are highly fattening and low in nutrients, so you are essentially filling your dog’s tummy with empty nutrition that leads to weight gain and other health complications.

As a rule, your furry friends should eat the recommended pet food, either dry or wet, and have appropriate treats in between meals. Limit the amount of scraps you give your dog, and if you enjoy sharing your snacks, make sure they are not poisonous or harmful. Things such as chocolate, grapes and bones should be completely avoided.

Easy Homemade Dog Treats

If you want to do something special for your furry friends, consider making these scrumptious dog treats to have their tails wagging!

  1. One cup of oat flour
  2. Quarter cup natural peanut butter
  3. Quarter cup chopped crispy bacon
  4. One ripe banana
  5. One large egg

Simply combine ingredients using a stand mixer, flatten dough and cut into desired shape using a cookie cutter and bake in a 350F preheated oven for around twenty to twenty-five minutes. Roll the dough thinner for crunchy treats and thicker for chewy treats.
